Why choose this 5mm door handle spindle

A high-quality solid steel spindle is the backbone of a smoothly operating door handle. This 5mm square bar replaces tired, twisted or broken spindles in interior, bedroom and bathroom door handles, and is cut to length from a precision-rolled steel bar so the corners stay sharp and grip the handle hub securely.

Sizes available

Typical uses

Lever-on-rose handles, lever-on-backplate handles, sprung handles, bathroom turn-and-release sets and tubular mortice latches. A 5mm spindle is the most common size on UK interior doors fitted from the 1990s onwards.

How to fit

Remove the existing handles, withdraw the old spindle and measure the door thickness plus the depth of both handle hubs. Pick a spindle length that leaves about 3–5mm clearance inside each hub when the door is fully closed. Slide the new spindle through the latch follower, refit both handles and tighten the grub screws onto the flats of the bar.
