Why choose these black penny washers

Black penny (or mudguard) washers combine the load-spreading benefit of an extra-large outside diameter with the corrosion resistance of A2 stainless steel and a discreet chemical-black finish. Ideal where a standard washer would crush thin sheet, plastic or fabric — the wider face spreads the clamping force evenly, while the black finish ties in with darker hardware and trim.

Stocked in eleven bore-by-OD combinations to DIN 9021: M3, M4, M5, M6, M8 and M10 bores with OD options to suit each diameter — from M3 × 9mm up to M10 × 30mm. Pair with matching A2 hex nuts, dome nuts or button-head screws for a clean black-and-stainless assembly.

Typical uses

Mudguard and bodywork repairs, fixing thin or flexible panels (plastic, plywood, GRP, fabric), trailer floor and side fittings, signage, garden furniture, dark-finished fixtures, electrical enclosures and any joint where a wider seat is needed under a smaller bolt head.

How to fit

Place the washer under the nut or bolt head with the chamfered face outwards, then tighten as normal. Note that there can be a light residual protective oil on the surface from manufacture — wipe off with a clean cloth before final assembly if needed.
